Marble Bowls Made From Clay

I have now become a marble creating fool! Using Clay to create marble has been done plenty and I still love it.

You may remember when I used clay to create faux Agate Bookends!

It’s so easy and really pretty!

I made several as gifts for friends, they would be great for Mother’s Day, perfect for Teacher gifts… possibilities are endless! Can you tell I’m a bit pleased with these?

Instructions:

1.  Gather the colors that you want- I think having at least a little grey and black help it to look more marbleized.

2.  Roll the colors into snakes.

3.  Put all the snakes together and then twist.

4.  Roll the twisted pieces into a ball.

5.  Flatten ball fairly thin.

6.  Use a bowl or template to trace out your shape.

7.  Using an oven safe bowl, mold your clay circle to the bottom.

8.  Most modeling clay is cooked at 275 degrees for 15mins, but check your instructions.

9.  Romove and let cool.

10. Lightly sand any rough edges with a fine sand paper.

11. Use a Gold Leaf Pen or color of choice to paint edges.

Clay28So do you think I could let any clay go to waste? Duh. Not likely! So what else could I make besides little bowls? How bout a little box? I had one of those small, unfinished wood boxes from Hobby Lobby ($1) and I simply painted it- traced it’s outline in clay- cooked the clay- and then glued with Gorilla Glue!

And hey, what about those gorgeous acrylic trays you see everywhere? Well you know what looks like one but is only a few dollars… a Plastic Box Frame! Take out the backing, trace your clay- bake it- and pop it in!

Thank you! If you mean to the little box- after it was cooked and hardened, I just glued it on with Gorilla Glue:)
